Labour Shortage – Australia need more international workers

We will expect the Government to relax requirements and introduce more incentives to attract more international workers to Australia in 2022. Already announced, student visa holders have been allowed to work more hours and new international students who arrived in Australia from 19th January 2022 to 16th March 2022 can claim a rebate on their visa application charges ($630) from the Department of Home Affairs.
The temporary rebate incentive also extended to people on working holiday visas for those visa holders who arrived in Australia from 19th January 2022 to 13th April 2022, just four more weeks than student visa holders. This is a very clever move by the Morrison Government to utilize students and backpackers to fill the labour shortage that Australia is facing. However, these numbers will not be sufficient and sooner Australia will need a significant number of overseas skilled workers to fill the shortage.
